Week of April 2nd

This week we will be reading the story Red, White, Blue and working on words with inflected endings and Fact and Opinion.  In Language Arts we will take a look at how to use quotation marks correctly.  In Science and Social Studies we are kicking off our dinosaur unit.  The kids are super excited!  We are continuing to work on place value and will be taking our essential learnings test at the end of the week.  Remember no school on Friday! 

Week of March 26th

This week we will be reading Just Like Josh Gibson and working on contractions and how to compare and contrast things.  We will also be working on using capital letters correctly.  In math weill will continue to learn about place value to the thousandths place.  During Science we will be focusing on our earth's natural resources and how we can reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Week of March 19th

This week we will be reading The Signmakers Assistant, working on realism and fantasy, and au, aw, augh, and al words.  In Language Arts we will finish writing add on stories and learn about contractions.  During Science and Social Studies we will finish our weather unit, learn about where we are in our world, and focus on reading maps.  Our class will continue to work on graphing and probability and learn about numbers and patterns to 1000!  On Wednesday Fax Gilbert who is a mime will be coming to Paddock Lane and present a program on Mimes, Masks, and Magic!  It will be an amazing show!

Week of March 12th

This week we will be reading the story Horace and Morris but Mostly Dolores.  We will be learning about author's purpose and the using ph and gh for the /f/ sound.  In Language Arts we will continue to work on different kinds of pronouns and begin writing add-on stories.  In math we will be focusing on graphs and probability.  During Science this week our class will start learning about weather and we will try to make it rain in our classroom.

Week of March 5th

This week we are reading the story Bad Dog Dodger.  We are working on silent consonants, theme, and plot.  The Gates Reading test will be given on Wednesday so please make sure your child is well rested.  In math we are working on telling time to the nearest 5 minutes.  Please practice this with your child at home. During Language Arts we are working on the pronouns I and me and writing a book review.  A special pep rally will be held Tuesday for the Beatrice boys basketball team who will be playing in the state tournament on Thursday.  Good Luck to them and congratulations to the girls' team for their state runner up finish last weekend!
