Week of April 11th
This week we are going to have some fun learning about cowboys. We will be focusing on suffixes and cause and effect. We will continue to learn about dinosaurs and make a clay dinosaur and a diorama. In Language Arts we will be working on commas in a compound sentence and writing our dinosaur reports. In math we are working on adding 3 digit numbers. We are also starting our embryology unit in Science. It's going to be a great week!

Week of March 29th
This week we will be reading the story Red, White, and Blue while working on inflected endings, facts, and opinions. We will also be learning about quotation marks. In math we are learning about place value and numbers up to 1000. We are going to start learning about dinosaurs this week which is a very exciting time in our classroom!

Week of March 21st
I can't believe we're beginning our last reading unit for this school year! We're going to learn about how traditions and celebrations are important in our lives. This week we will focus on why sports are important in our country. We will read a wonderful realistic fiction story called Just Like Josh Gibson. The comprehension skill we'll focus on this week is understanding how to compare and contrast. Our phonics and spelling skill this week is contractions. Remember, we'll take our spelling test on Thursday this week, as we are off on Friday and Monday. In language arts we will be learning more about when to use capital letters. In science we will begin our weather unit. The students are excited about that! During art, we will create some cute chicken Easter baskets. During math we will finish up Topic 16: Graphing and Probability. Then we'll begin working in Topic 17: Numbers and Patterns to 1,000. Have a great week!

Week of March 7th
We only have 2 days of school this week. We will be writing our very own add on stories! Time to be creative. In health we will be learning about our respiratory system, eyes, ears and how to take care of our bodies. In math we will be finishing up time and starting a unit on graphing. We have had fun celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday. A special thank you goes out to Josiah's grandma for providing our class with some amazing cupcakes to celebrate this amazing author's birthday. Enjoy your days off. On Wednesday the teachers will be working on curriculum and staff development.

Week of Feb. 29th
This week we will be reading a story called Horace and Morris but Mostly Delores. We will be working on the consonants ph and gh and author's purpose. Pronouns will continue to be our focus in Language Arts. We will also be celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday this week with some fun activities. In Science we will be learning about our muscular, skeletal, and digestive systems. This week in math we will continue to work on telling time and reading a thermometer.

Week of Feb. 22nd
This week we will be reading a story called Bad Dog Dodger, working on silent consonants, theme, and plot. We will also be working on the pronouns I and me and our 3rd quarter writing assessment. We will also start writing a book report. In math we will continue to work on measurement and start learning how to tell time to the nearest 5 minute. In Science we will learn about teeth and our body. It should be an exciting week.

Week of Feb. 15th
This week we will be reading a story called One Dark Night while working on sequencing and prefixes. We will be writing a response paragraph and learning more about pronouns. In Social Studies we will be celebrating President's Day and learning about Ruby Bridges. We will continue to learn about capacity in Math.
