Week of March 21st

I can't believe we're beginning our last reading unit for this school year!  We're going to learn about how traditions and celebrations are important in our lives.  This week we will focus on why sports are important in our country.  We will read a wonderful realistic fiction story called Just Like Josh Gibson.  The comprehension skill we'll focus on this week is understanding how to compare and contrast.  Our phonics and spelling skill this week is contractions.  Remember, we'll take our spelling test on Thursday this week, as we are off on Friday and Monday.  In language arts we will be learning more about when to use capital letters.   In science we will begin our weather unit.  The students are excited about that!  During art, we will create some cute chicken Easter baskets.  During math we will finish up Topic 16:  Graphing and Probability.  Then we'll begin working in Topic 17:  Numbers and Patterns to 1,000.  Have a great week!
