Week of Sept. 15th

This week we will be reading the story A Walk in the Desert and focusing on main idea and details.  We will also be working on inflected endings (words ending in ed and ing).  Those words will be the focus for our spelling words as well.  In Language Arts we will be learning about writing a story with a beginning, middle, and end as well as statements and questions.  In Social Studies we will be learning about Constitution Day and Johnny Appleseed.  We will be doing an art project about Johnny Appleseed too.  In Science Nicole Stoner, an extension educator will be bringing her Madagascar hissing cockroaches.  We will get to do som experiments with them.  We will also be comparing butterflies and moths.  In math we will continue to work on subtraction strategies.
